4 more cards - winter theme

Had a chance tonight to make a few more cards. It really helps when the weather turns grey and cloudy.....and cooler. Sorry the image in the lower left doesn't show up as well as the others.

Not sure when I'll have another 'official' class. Just email me if you would like to make more cards and we can work out a date and time. I try to work on cards a little every evening, especially during Suns games.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Christmas Cards, Preview - Part 2

It's late and I'm finally getting these posted to the blog. I had to use my little camera as everyone has gone to bed so the picture quality isn't as good as with the big Nikon. Digging it out would have made toooooo much noise!

So here are the next nine cards I have completed. If you would like to make a few let me know. (Click on the picture for a larger view.)

Hope to see you tomorrow night or Saturday morning for lots of card making fun!

Tootles,
Suz

Christmas Cards, Preview - Part 1

Okay, I did have a chance to work on cards this weekend and here's a look at the first batch. What do you think? Are you up for a class to make your own Christmas cards this year? The diecut ornaments and the joy card are actually cards I can make up as kits in as many as you like and send them to you if you want to work on them at home.

I will be holding classes on Wed. 11/12, Wed. 11/19 and Saturday, 11/22. Class time for the Wednesday classes is on or about 6:00 pm (come early, come late whatever works for you). Class time for the Saturday class is 10:00 am and can go longer than a weeknight class if you want to make several of each card. (If you know the cards you want to make, let me know that helps in preparing class as well.)

Please RSVP for these so I can have the materials prepared for the class you wish to attend.

A Thanksgiving Card Class

Can I just say - WOWZA or YIKES the past couple of weeks have been jam packed with activities in the Schlief household. Lots going on, lots to get caught up on, and looking forward to the next couple of weeks will being calmer....I hope. (As I type this I have a feeling that between now and New Years I'm just fooling myself if I think things are going to slow down any.)

Fall is here, I know it is, it is finally cooler! No more 100° temperatures! Hip Hip Hooray! I was able to sit down for an hour or so and come up with some really fun and quick cards - not as much detail (ie embossing, brayering, foiling, etc.) as the Halloween cards - just plain and simple stamping and a little chalking. I love to send out Thanksgiving cards, sometimes more so than Christmas, as it gives me a chance to let those I care about know how thankful I am they are a part of my life.

So, here's the scoop - I'm tossing in a Thanksgiving card class for Wednesday, October 29th about 6ish or so (come when you can) and it shouldn't take us but an hour - maybe hour and a half - to complete these cards. I had intended to wait until the following Wednesday but I really want to save as many Wednesdays before Thanksgiving for our Christmas card making classes as we have so many more to make and send out to family and friends for that holiday. Seems like after Thanksgiving arrives there just isn't enough time for making Christmas cards, holiday baking, shopping for gifts, parties, visits with Santa, etc.

If you are interested in the Thanksgiving Class on 10/29, please let me know, cost is the same as always ($2 ea. incl. envelope). As it stands right now there are 9 cards, I may make a 10th one if time allows and surprise you in class. If you will be attending please list those you wish to make if you don't plan on making one of each. I really appreciate when you tell me the cards you want to make, it saves me time preparing for class and I don't waste supplies cutting cardstock for cards that won't be made.

Card Order Above: 1. Wheat Pilgrims; 2. Square Pilgrims; 3. Thanksgiving Scarecrow; 4. Tree; 5. Turkey; 6. Autumn; 7. Give Thanks; 8. Cornucopia; 9. Scarecrow Fence. (If you are interested in making the 2 Spider Web Halloween cards since this class is before Halloween, let me know and I'll have those ready as well.)

Now - onto the Christmas cards, well maybe not tonight it is getting late....maybe this weekend I will find some inspiration.

Final note in this posting: Those of you who have asked (Angela, Cher, Jennifer) about the scrapbooking night - I am working on it - trying to make it happen at least once before the holidays but I don't know if that is going to happen. It will be a weeknight for a couple of hours and you are free to bring whatever it is you need to work on, I will have idea books if we get scrapper's block. Maybe: Wednesday, November 5th --- and its open to everyone until seating capacity is maxed out!!! Let me know what you think.

If I don't see you in class before Halloween ---- hope you have a great haunting night and get lots and lots of gooey candy!!! Boo!

Tootles,
Suz

2 Spider Web Halloween Cards

Here are my last two Halloween cards for this year, I think. And now onto Thanksgiving cards in the next post!

Cute Kid Alert!!

Madison's 2nd Grade Picture! A week later she lost the other top tooth. Just love that smile little one!

Hope "Owl" be seeing you in class next week!

Hope OWL be seeing you---I crack myself up ----- do you get it? The owl cards......(ok, so that pun was BAAADDD!) I could have said "HOO Loves you Baby?!?" Okay, stop boo-ing me!! (Boo-ing = Halloween!! HA I'm just full of them this morning!!)

Now, I know I said I wasn't going to show you the other Fall and Halloween cards but I had such fun last night making these that I thought I'd share the fun! All of the cards are really easy, some have die cuts, a little embossing powder, and more brayer backgrounds, of course, I had to add the bling so most have sparkle of some sort. I actually have a few more I want to make before class gets here. A cute little Frankie card and well as more Fall/Thanksgiving cards with scarecrows and leaves. So maybe I'll keep those a secret until class--- maybe.

If you want to make specific cards or more than one of a card please let me know. (Description in order: Owl in tree, Yellow, Batty Tree, Fall Tree, Black Cat, Owl, and Flying Witch -- and don't forget the cards I posted below!)

Tootles and hope 'owl' be seeing you in class next Wednesday!!!!

Fall / Halloween Card Class - Yipee

Wow, it's almost October and not any cooler than a month ago! Do you know how hard that makes it for trying to create fall cards? Just think, Christmas cards are next - I sure hope we get a cold spell soon!

The pictures listed in this post are just a SNEAK PEEK of the Halloween and Fall cards we will be making at our next class. The Black Magic technique was used on the Rose card and we will be using a Foil technique on the "Thanksgiving Leaves" card. We will also be making our own backgrounds using a Brayer technique on the Fall and spooky, drippy goo-looking card. (How is that for a card description?) Hmmm, I think that's all the new techniques and everything else is just the same old inkin', stampin', and gluin'. Oh, the Haunted House card uses die cuts and its a really quick card to throw together. What these pictures don't show is just how sparkly some of the elements are --- silly camera!! The cards are so much more dazzling in real life.

So now the pictures:

Now the class info:
Wednesday, October 8, 2008, class starts at 6:30 pm (should end approx. 8:30 pm). As usual, bring your basic kit and since we will be using markers and colored pencils if you have a set of your own, feel free to bring them to class as well. Cost: $2.00 per card (incl. envelope)

Well you will have to come to class (Trick or Treat) to find out the rest of the cards!!! Please RSVP to save your seat!!!

Don't forget to sign up to have the blog directly sent to your email box (upper right hand corner of this page). All you have to do is add your email address - nothing else - no ads - no spam, etc.

Cutie Patootie Alert!!! (3rd post today - what's up with that?)

Just had to put this one on the blog. Baby John Squash Face. This is the only way to enjoy Butternut Squash! Thanks to Michelle for emailing a pic of her sweet little 5 month old boy.
That's a face all Mommies can love.

Ahh.....just takes me back in time......Maddie don't grow up so fast.

Bye, again!

A bit more to post today.....

No blog updates for months then you get two in one day!!!

(Update on me since many of you have asked that I don't see all of the time.) Some of you are already aware through daily conversation that my diagnosis is Polymyositis, a rare auto-immune disease, of which I am (so far) on the path to recovering with very little setbacks so far. It is something I will deal with the rest of my life but I am told there is a very good prognosis that we can get this into remission and it may never bother me again. We are working on weaning me of the steroids (prednisone) and eventually off the Methotrexate. So many calls, thoughts and prayers from everyone over the past year has sure made me realize what a wonderful group of people I can truly call on if I ever need to. I am blessed, my cup runneth over. Thank you so much - you know who you are!!! Enough of that blah, blah, blah....I have it...it doesn't have me --- so onto the fun stuff this blog is all about.

First, I got tired of the way the blog looked.....so I changed it.....about like I do with my hair color every now and then. Let me know what you think of it.....the blog....not my hair that is. Also, take a looky, looky to the upper right-hand corner of the blog and notice I added a 'subscribe to' link. If you subscribe to my blog you will automatically get the class updates everytime I post rather than me sending an email reminder to have you surf on over to the blog. So, take a moment to subscribe and make your life and mine easier! Muchas Gracias Chicas!! (Many Thanks Girls)

It is my intention to every once in awhile post a quick tutorial in between class listings as well as any cool links or things I find that might help with your cardmaking or scrapbooking. (I promise I will not fill your mailbox with blog updates everyday - I don't have that kind of time or energy anyhow.)

Also, wanted to give a shout out hello to some new ladies I added to the blog list. "HELLO" Kristin, Christina, Stephanie, Jennifer, Debbie, and Kathy!!! We had a great time over the summer making Girl Scout mini albums for the girls our Troop. Some of you are new to scrapbooking and cardmaking and wanted to learn more after completing the albums --- so here you go Welcome to the Tablescrapz Blog --- come to any class and check us out. We love to laugh, gossip (sometimes), eat, and even get around to making a few cards!

Only rules for class: Dress comfortable, be prepared to have fun, maybe learn something. Oh yeah, always RSVP to save your seat in class - otherwise you may have to sit on the floor!!! And feel free to bring a friend - the more the merrier!!!

One last thing, a couple of you mentioned you are interested in scrapbooking again getting your albums up to date. Would you like me to add a scrapbook class each month as well as a card class? If so, drop me a line and let me know what interests you. And would you be interested in learning more about DIGITAL Scrapbooking? Would you like to have monthly challenges I can post on the blog?

Can't wait to hear from everyone!!! Give me your thoughts on the blog, the new subscription link, upcoming classes --- and what you want to learn to create as well.

Tootles and have a great rest of the week and Labor Day Weekend.

At Long Last a New Card Class

Well, well....finally a new class you say?!?!?! Yep, trying to get my act together, get over a sinus infection and answer your pleas for a card class or two.

So what's in store for everyone you ask? How about some new techniques to add to our cards? How does creating a stained glass card sound? Or a hair gel card? Super cool peacock feathers? Maybe a watercolor card or two? How about some really simple dry embossed cards? A super quick masking technique? Really cute puppies? Yes, all this and more -- take a peek!!
The card with the fish in the bag is Angela's Hair Gel Card. She took my idea and ran with it for a really cute Birthday Card she needed for a relative! Way to go, girl!

Pictured below are the Stained Glass, Postage, Puppies, and Embossed cards. Anita's Vellum Butterfly card and Michelle's Chick card are listed in previous posts and they will be included in this class as well.

This class is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10th, 6:30-8:30 pm. You are welcome to take your pick of the cards you wish to make. If you make all 10 cards it will be $20 and that includes your envelopes as well. (Or Pick and Choose for $2.00 each, with envelopes.) Let me know if you wish to make more than one of each so I can make sure I have enough supplies on hand.

Upcoming classes will include some new Watercoloring Techniques, more birthday and special occassion cards, Halloween and Thanksgiving cards since those holidays are just around the corner, and I may even throw in a special crafting project such as a mini album or something we can all make to give away at Christmas. And of course, Christmas Cards --- which I may turn into a weekend afternoon of super crazy holiday card making madness so we can all get those cards done in time THIS YEAR!!!

Happy Easter and another peek

The first card is the card I made for Mom for Easter and since she's opened it now I will share it with you. Happy Easter!

The second is a card I made for David's birthday and another sneak peek for our class. This card could be used for a Birthday, Father's Day, or when you need to send a masculine card. Again, lots of matte layers but really easy.

Many Easter Blessings and see you in class on Wednesday!

Another Peek & Wednesday Class Reminder

Really...I have been working on Wednesday's Card Class. I just haven't had a chance to upload all the images. I was behind with my Easter cards earlier this week but thought I'd post one just the same. This card could be used as a Spring Card or a Girlfriend card (just substitute, "Hey, Chickie" for Easter Greetings). The Easter Chick was one of those $1 Michael's stamps and I used the new Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" embossing folder for the textured background. It was a really simple card - mostly just mattes.

What do you think of the Monkey Business card? It was fun - I actually used colored pencils to match the background flowers to the cardstock and ribbon. Not a hard card at all - just a lot of coloring. Coloring takes me back to my childhood and I actually had fun making this card last night. Madison made a card as well and this particular card is for her cousins birthday on Saturday so I'll have to make another sample for class. You can't see it from the photo but there is some shiny bling on the card and I thought this one screamed for a matching envelope as well. This set is so cute, I'm thinking a few more card ideas may come to class. If you really like the set, I purchased it through Oriental Traders for $14 and it's called Mindy's Zoo.

So there you have it another sneak peek and here's your class reminder...Wednesday night's class (March 26th) starts at 6:30 pm and as usual there will be a half a dozen or so cards you can make for $1.00 each ($2.00 each with envelope). Most of you have your seat saved already but if I haven't heard from you in the past month or so and you wish to attend, please let me know ASAP.

Wishing each and every one of you a joyous Easter filled with many happy blessings! (And lots of chocolate rabbits and jelly beans, too!)

Tootles,
Suzanne

Class Scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th

Just thought I'd send an update to let you know I'm feeling better and have been working on a few cards for our next class which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th starting at 6:30 pm. This class will have an assortment of cards that can be used for many occasions. I'll let you decide which sentiment you want to add to your cards.

Please be sure to RSVP so I can have your supplies on hand and your seat saved. Can't wait to see you in class. Cards are the usual $2.00 each which includes your envelopes. ($1.00 each if you supply your own envelopes.)

We spent yesterday planting flowers in the planters since the weather was so nice. I'm glad to see the weeds gone and the pretty blossoms once again. We also set out some tomato and pepper plants so here's hoping we have another bumper crop again this year.

More pictures in a few days....just thought I'd say 'hello."

A Little Sneak Peek! What's a Buckle Card?

These cards a just a little sneak peek of the next class I'm working on right now. They are called Buckle Cards and are very easy to make. Also, notice these are masculine rather than the cutesy, frilly, pink stuff I usually do. I prefer the card on the right as once it I made it I realized I wouldn't have to add the sentiment until I was ready to mail it so it could be "Thinking of You", "Get Well", "With Sympathy", or just about anything.

I will let you know when I schedule the next class - either Tuesday, March 25th or Wednesday, March 26th. Or you can let me know which day you prefer!

Hope you like your Valentine's Day Sneak Peek!!

Class Reminder, A Really Cool Wesite, and a Challenge

Just a reminder, the Valentine/St. Patrick Card Class is still on for tomorrow night. (Tuesday, February 5 @6:30 pm) Don't forget your basic kit (glue, scissors, pencil, ruler, etc.). Right now I have 3 reserved and 2 more seats available, just let me know if you would like to attend so I can have your card supplies waiting for you. Cards are $2.00 each and include the envelope, feel free to make one of each or pick and choose what you like.

I came across a really neat-o website this morning and I think it's just what we need to kick start our cardmaking and scrapbooking in 2008. Here's the link: http://www.pagemaps.com. Talk about an organized site full of card and scrapbooking templates. The scrapbooking templates come in all page sizes so it doesn't matter if you only scrap 8-1/2x11 or 12x12 or 6x6!! The card templates are great too! They even give samples based on each template AND IT'S FREE!! Free is good! The really super-duper thing is you can download the pdf files, print, and save the templates in a notebook for future reference.

Okay - so here's my Challenge: Pick a template either card or scrap (I'm choosing a scrap template) and create your masterpiece based on the template you chose. Email me a picture and I'll post it to the blog for everyone to see. Maybe this will motivate us to complete those card and page projects we always talk about in class but never get around to doing. Let's make this really fun --- the first person to email me their creation gets a piece of blog candy!!! Know what blog candy is? A freebie aka a prize! One beautiful, luscious roll of red, red organdy ribbon.

See ya' in class!

Card Class Update

Since appointments have literally taken over my calendar this week, it looks like our class will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30 pm and there are still seats available. Just email that you'll be here and the cards you want to create. See ya' soon!

Sunday, January 27, 2008

How would you like a card class?

How about we get try to get together for a class on either Wednesday, January 30 at 6:30 pm or Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30 pm? That's between doctor's appointments and procedures for me so I won't have been running around town and be exhausted. I've been feeling halfway decent and most of all I miss seeing everyone and hearing what's been going on lately!!

Here are the cards:

You can make one of each for a total of 12 cards ($2.00 each includes envelopes) or pick and choose the cards you wish to make. Please RSVP and let me know your choices I'll have things ready the night of class. The cards starting at the top are as follows: Bunny Valentine, Monkey Valentine, Hugs & Kisses, Shamrock, Eiffel Tower, Valentine Hearts, Good Luck, Sending My Love, Best Wishes, Froggy Valentine, Love Flourishes, and Embossed Valentine. All are blank inside with the exception of the Eiffel Tower (Happy Valentine's Day inside) and Froggy Valentine ('Hoppy' Valentine's Day inside) but you are welcome to stamp sentiments on the inside while you are here or change the sentiment to suit your needs. (click on the pic for a larger view)

Here's hoping I can create another class in February or March as I have ideas bouncing around in my head for masculine cards which I have truly been in need of lately. Also, I'll try to work in Easter cards and throw in some birthday, too.

So....what do you think? AN ACTUAL CARD CLASS --- FINALLY!!!!!! Hope to see you here!
